Primary School Library Extension

Design and project management of a new library extension for a school in North Somerset

One of our projects over the summer was the design and project management of a new library facility at a Primary School in North Somerset.  The new library was built on top of an existing flat roof and uses cedar cladding to create a contemporary look.

Internally the space is open plan with just one partitioned area to form a large storage cupboard.  This makes the large internal space flexible and capable of accommodating a variety of different layouts.

One of the design challenges of the project was to link the new library to the rest of the school.  Our skilful design managed to provide two access points into the new space from the existing stairwells – despite having to work with four different fixed levels!
